a little idea...

and no way an original! On pinterest the other day...i came across this - photo credit

this sparked and idea in my head....a set of tokens for my son to use over the next six months... to put into his stocking from santa........... So i took the idea and ran with it.
I had in my head lots of ideas about how to make it...how to put it together...and then my dh said...if you scrapbook it, will he not know that you made it?
RATS!
so all that planning out the window...and had to settle with making it on the computer instead! so not pretty and very boring really but i thought it was a cute idea.
And very specific to him as well...as you can see below..one of them is an extra biscuit at bedtime before he brushes his teeth....he always asks and i always say no lol!!!!

So i thought i would just show you some photos as to what i had done....just for fun...and i am betting he will love them!

all i did was print them out and cut them up...

anyone else have any cute ideas?

being negative...

I am not a person who partakes in challenges...crops...competitions etc....i have been on design teams for such a long time that i have never had the time to take part.
But...this one ...i loved the idea....'Think Negative'...this one stuck with me... it is over at Sarahs cards blog...this is the page that i created for the competition. I may ever so slightly be obsessed with Bella Blvd at the moment. When i get my birthday money next week i will be buying more!!!! I am looking for the new Easter line though..called  Spring flings and easter things...someone here in the UK has to be selling it!!! lol...does anyone know anywhere?

This page is about my sons obsession with the comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. And the way that after a while he started to act like him! and got himself into trouble at school... Funnily enough when searching on the internet about this subject...you wouldn't believe the  amount of people whose children had done the same!!!!

I took these photos to document his obsession, little did i know it would turn out this way!!! so a negative in one respect...but it is true what they say about children reading what they love...his reading and understanding of words has come on in leaps and bounds so a positive in another!

Anyway here is my page.

and a close up!

not re inventing the wheel

This is one of those layouts that isn't amazing, isn't spectacular it is just a layout. Sometimes it is just nice to put together a familiar layout and just have fun with the details...so nothing amazing just a layout about my son with a photo that i love. More Bella Blvd here and a few bits from Jillibean Soup as well.

and some close ups...

A page today....

I got some Bella Blvd stuff the other week...not a company that i would normally buy...but in my effort to move my style on i bought some. And when i saw it, i will admit that i was a bit worried if i would ever use it. The patterns are very blog and loud...i like bright colours that the overall texture of the sheets was not something i would normally use. But i grabbed them and had a go.

Again in the spirit of moving myself along i grabbed a sketch and tried to use it....i used the one from the Basic Grey blog...

I will admit that i did change it around a bit...but i used this one to make myself use the two photos. I struggle with photos that are not the same ie..landscape or portrait...so this was to make myself use them.
Here is what i came up with. Again no inking. I have found this to be somewhat freeing!!!! it takes time to ink everything and at the moment i am liking the non ink look...so i think it may stay!

and some close ups.

supplies used:
pattern paper - Bell Blvd - Mr Boy and Finally Fall
Background Paper is from Studio Calico
Letters - Thickers from American Crafts called Goodness from Amy Tangerine.
Die cuts ( Yellow with simply perfect and some others i used at the top of the page ) are from Little Yellow Bicycle
Pins - Little Yellow Bicycle
Little lettering - Authentique
Little kraft butterflies and flower chipboard - Studio Calico

teachers xmas presents...

As i posted in my previous post ...i am making my sons teacher christmas presents this year....i decided to make something like this...

So i bought the boxes...sat for ages adding butterflies to the ends of the teabags...then added them to the box and sealed it up! i totally forgot to take a photo of what i did...i still have another one to make so i will take photos of that one. But here is the outside of the box.....an after thought was that it is a bit non colourful...but it is done...

i bought a bunch of fake flowers to add on the top from Dunelm ( a UK shop) and then some bare raffia from THe Range ( a Uk shop) and wrapped it round the box...here are some more shots of it on different angles...

see you soon x

New magazine

Evening all...i finally managed to sit down and make a card today...a xmas one at that... again i am still working on the whole 'tags' thing...still struggling with them, but have a lot less now than i did a few weeks ago...my next thing to try is journaling tags....does anyone else find them difficult to use? i love all of Elle studio products but struggle to use them....so my aim is to give that ago...any tips would be helpful...

anyway here is the card...using some old October Afternoon and American Crafts christmas lines from the past few years...

Next up...the new Scrap 365 magazine came out here in the UK and i am so happy to be part of it...there was a blog post today about the readers gallery that i thought i would post on here for you to see...

Want to see your scrappy project in Scrap365?

Then read on!

You will have noticed that unlike other magazines we don’t have a reader’s gallery; this is because we want our readers to be involved in the magazine proper rather than sidelined. With this in mind we are looking for readers who would like to make a guest appearance in any of the following features:
-Themed Gallery (see ‘Tis the Season p.27 in this issue for example)
-Photo Focus (see p.37)
-Scrap the Small Stuff (see p.34)

If you’d like to take part please email a couple of examples of your work to scrap365@traplet.com (or alternatively send blog links to your fave projects) for our consideration.

We look forward to your submissions and good luck!

SMALL PRINT: We regret that no payment is made for reader contributions to the magazine although you will receive a copy of the magazine in which you feature. Work will be returned to you at our expense but it may take 6 months to get back to you. If selected, you will be asked to make something new and unseen for the magazine based on a given theme.
Next up is the latest update from Papermaze...we have been working hard to get the sale orders out but it is going to take time as there were so many...see the update here.
