And then life takes over....

Christmas is a busy time and that is not different in my house...i have presents to wrap, Harrys birthday on christmas eve to put together...relatives and a million other things to prepare for...

Also as you know my aunt is dying of Lung Cancer...she has been ill for such along time now...and we are on days left now instead of weeks...

So unless i find a few minutes in between the craziness this will be my last post before christmas...i will be back after christmas with my fav projects of 2010 and some new cards to show you...so i wish you all a very merry christmas and have a wonderful time with all your family.

So a while ago...i found a post on Kelly Goree's blog...it is this one with the most gorgeous favor boxes i have ever seen....now there is not a chance i could do them as nice as hers...but i loved idea and wanted to do it for Christmas day on my table...

I used the Jovial line from Basic Grey...i also fiddled with the sizes a bit as well as the tops were a bit to tight for me...

Inside i added two chocolates...

and i was good to go!!!

and for my mother...

My mum is the biggest lover of teapots, teacups and bone china...she loves them and has loads and uses them all and gets such pleasure from it.........so it made sense to make something for christmas that reflects this.....so after much searching around the internet to spark and idea this is what i came up with....( someone asked where i get my frames from...over here in the UK we have a shop called The Range....they are about £5 from there, they come in a light wood and are easy to paint!)

Edited to add: here is the link for the images that i used for this ... a website called scrappy llama there are loads and lots of boys ones too if you want to make one of these for a male/boy

now it may not be everyone's cup of tea ( sorry very bad joke! lol) but i know that she is going to love it....

And it took me hours and hours to make...each teapot and cup is cut out into sections...for example the lid on this one...

the spout the handle and the bottom part are individually made and stuck on....yes i am that insane!!! Here are close ups of all of them...

I just hope after all this work she likes it!!!

snowman soup....

Has anyone done this before...i came across it on one of my many blog hops that sometimes take me to weird and wonderful places!!!

Anyway i found this idea and went with it. We do secret santa where i work and we are only allowed to spend £5...so you have to be creative....so i dug into my December Nook kit and some other bits and got working...

For those of you that dont know what it is...it is this poem...

Snowman Soup
Was told you've been real good this year.
Always glad to hear it!
With freezing weather drawing near,
You'll need to warm the spirit.
So here's a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick.
Add hot water, sip it slow.
It's sure to do the trick!

I then decorated this jar....

and added some packets of hot chocolate, some marshmellows, chocolate buttons and a candy cane for stirring....

Much better than finding £5 little something that is no use to anyone...and i love it ...must keep it in my head for next year as well!!!

These arrived on my doorstep the other day....wooden houses ...
aren't they gorgeous...not sure what i am going to make with them yet though...i am thinking of a picture frame with them covered with gorgeous pattern paper...maybe a simpler one that i made the other day...and i am in love with these its a good job these things are not expensive huh!!!!!

I have a busy few days coming up...my dh and i volunteered to cook Christmas dinner for Harry's school... that is not as bad as it seems as there are only 29 children in the whole school but still a lot of potatoes to peel and cook!!!!!

COme back on friday and i will show you what i have made for my mother this year!

The one where.....

I actually sat down in my scraproom and pulled out my trimmer and scrapbooked!

It has been a while since i have done it or at least enjoyed it anyway!!!

I started out with the December Nook Kit....i then decided to challenge myself ( a good way to get my creative juices going) to do an 8 by 8 page........which then at the end of it i thought would make a good frame for my fireplace when i finally get my decorations up....

See...there is smoke and everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to use stickles for the snow on the roofs....but i appear to have hidden them away when i re did my room and now i cannot find it...so i grabbed some of my glitter ( blew the dust off the bottle first , that is how often i use it...and added that...

i added some extra red flowers to finish the frame off....

and it is done! To view the Nook kit click here...i am dying to get my hands on this kit again...roll on 2m when i have some time!!!! see you later x

I have found a new hobby!

After searching the internet to find different things as we slowly do this house up...the one thing that kept popping up that i liked was wooden hanging objects.
I love hanging hearts...love them and have them everywhere in my house....i have these ones

As i have been having a scrapping hiatus in the last few weeks, i missed creating things....so after seeing them everywhere i decided to have a go...so i ordered some hearts and stars from here bought some paint and had a go....i have to say it was like a bit of fresh air to do something creative but not scrapbooking...

I made some stars for Harrys room...

As you can see they are not perfect....i have some learning to do ( especially about making straight lines) i also made this to hang on the door knobs in my kitchen...along with my other ones!!!! lol

As i said there are flaws but i am looking forward to making some more!!!!! i may even attempt some writing!!!!

Taking some time....

I am going to take a few days off blogging...family issues...time and lack of any type of any creative ability are lots of reasons...i will be back later next week, when hopefully my Dec kit from the Nook will be here. Have a fab weekend.
