a) i am surrounded by boy stuff all the time...i am a girl on my own in my house so i am surrounded by footballs and all things blue everyday
2) as alot of people will tell you...boy stuff is hard to do...well i find it hard...not sure why but i do...do you?...
anyway i decided to challenge myself...so i sat down and put together some boy projets for you...
Here is the first one...a boy card...
Okay first off you need to cut out a rectangle from blue paper...the paper set i am using today is the MJ line from Dream Street...perfect for all things blue!!!..i added some white scalloped card to the bottom and the top and adhered this to a kraft coloured card...
Next i added the words...these i wanted to do at the top and the bottom because my middle embellishment was very big...so i dug out the matching rubs ons to match the pattern paper...
and cut out these ones from the bottom...
and put them onto the card...adding some blue gems in between the words...
i then added some raffia across the centre.
Now onto the main part of the card...i grabbed a star template...this one is from jenni Bowlin...as you can see i added the extra bit on the side just like the template...
I then took out my felt...i sewed a strip into a circle...and then added a big button...
and then added this to the star...
it was still a bit boring so i added a ruffle edge...to do this i adhered it to another piece of paper...drew round and cut out...
i then used my scissor to cut little lines to make a ruffled look...at a lot of trouble with the ends and i am not happy with how the points came out...i then added this to the card...to do this i had to use three layers of foam circles from Zva Creative as the Raffia made it left a big gap...
and volia a finished boy card!!!
Okay onto the Chatterbox give away....i asked Harry to chose someone to recieve the give away...and he choose...

Looking forward to the week of tags, especially with lots of birthdays coming up and they are also great for embelishments on LO's! Anyway I always love a day out at the zoo, not something you could do all the time but a treat for the summer holidays and a great photo op! Fab prize! Anna xxx
I really like your 'boy' card. Looks fabulous. An easy day out is always going to the park. But if you want to stay in and do crafty stuff, have you tried the Skip To My Lou blog? They've got tonnes of ideas. The address is: http://www.skiptomylou.org
Good luck!
xx

Another fab card, why are *boy things* always so much harder??LOL. Thanks for the inspiration Wendy....congrats to kirsty on your win.
Summer hols are hard to fill with fun all the time I think. We try to spend as much time chilling on the beach as poss,we did have some fun when we came up your way on our hols a couple of years ago though Wendy, there is a huge park in Ipswich town centre ( can't remember its name though sorry) but its huuuuge andhas some lovely grounds, a mansion and some play areas. Also the museum in town is AMAZING and FREE! It full of animals, birds and other amazing things, well worth a visit. Also loved going crabbing and beach combing at Bawdsey and up at Walberswick too. What about geocaching? I have heard that is supposed to be great fun...we hope to try that sometime. Not sure if you live in a busy area or not, but my girls used to like have a toy table sale in the front garden sometimes too, they used to have a good clear out and tidy up and then sell a few bits and peices, then enjoy a trip with their money to spend on new goodies. Whatever you do I hope you have fun.. Warmest wishes Anita..xx
To be honest, I wasn't sure if Harry was your DH, your DS or your dog. ;) LOL After reading the previous posts, I assume son, so.....having three sons myself...I recommend getting a paper airplane book and spend some time making all kinds of fancy paper airplanes and trying them out. :) We did that when my boys were little and they loved it!
what a fab boy card! I love stars, and this card is PERFECT!
Hmm, for summer, what can you do? Think BIG!
FLy over to sunny Sarasota, Florida, to see me and I'll take you on a tour of the Ringling Museum of Art and mansion and circus museums. Then, you can sail on the bay and see the 40ft tall statue of a sailor kissing a nurse (no kidding!), eat seafood (it's not oily here yet, but we are on the Gulf), and enjoy the sugar white sands of Siesat Key. Or hunt for shark teeth at Nokomis.
Or, if you are staying at home, you can start a project. Maybe make a movie about where you live and how things have changed to remember it by 50 years from now? good luck!

Fantastic card!
What to do when you're alone with a kid... Oh - tricky! I don't even know when I'm alone with myself! :P
Treasure hunts are always fun (did you try geocaching? My sister swears by it! Says it's like our treasure hunts when we were kids!) and hikes are good fun too. You don't have to hike far either - for a kiddo it's probably adventure enough to just hike through the nearest forrest trail, and bring a picknick. Plus you'd get lovely shots!
Well, I'll be watching these comments to get some ideas myself!
When the kids start getting summer-crazy here I break out the chalk and we create a big town on the driveway. Sometimes we'll get the matchbox cars out and drive around our big town.
Great card! I may incorporate your idea into a tag. Also, great prize.
What about doing some creative projects with him? Maybe origami. I recently got my 6 year old daughter an origami book for her to work through on her summer break. And she loves it. Another thing I could suggest would be to maybe volunteer at a local farm. I don't know what the landscape is like where you live but if there are any near you that might be a fun day and a great photo op! Thanks again for all these great chances to win & I love your work tons!

My son loves to go camping. Often during the summer, I will set a tent up in the backyard for him and my daughter to have a mini campout. I can hear them giggling all night long.
There is just something about sleeping under the stars! It's a ton of fun and doesn't cost a thing!
I think every city has water parks, not the big commercial ones, but the small little shoot up fountains that kids can run through with lazy rivers too...there are usually things to do for all ages. We have to travel about 45 minutes away to get to ours but its always a great time for all because I have 3 kids ranging in ages from 13 to 1 1/2. Have a great summer!!
Looking forward to the week of tags...
Summer with kids? I don't have any of my own, but I can say water fights are awesome in summer, teach him how to make a slush, some homemade ice-cream, trip to the zoo or a water-theme park..
sounds like my summer came back..
Fabulous card..would love to see more of guy cards!
Lets see I shall give a little page off what I am doing w/my kiddos.. We love to leave messages of sunshine w/Chalk outside so when people pass by they "expect" to see some artwork we actually got that idea after coming back from the city and we had seen some AMAZING (why didn't I have my camera) done on the sidewalk in NY so we went and got a big box of chalk and after breakfast we go outside and each of my kids doodles some happiness. Other things we are doing is going to the library as they have awesome fun stuff for kids during the summer. We also look for matinee movie showing and make a day of it. Hope those help a bit :)
Lovin' that card.
My daughter really enjoys junk modeling so leading up to the summer hols I collect a huge box of cardboard cartons, boxes, tubes, yogurt pots, etc and then when we are stuck for things to do the box comes out together with a pot of glue and she gets to glue and create to her hearts content. And ....... it doesn't cost anything.
Bowling =)
I'm trying to come up with ideas myself. It seems kids don't want to go out and play like they did when I was a kid. She complains continuously that it's too hot. I don't remember it ever being too hot to be outside playing with my friends. Anyway - I try to do outdoorsy stuff with her like going to the pool or the waterpark. We're going to go see a matinee this week and more than likely going to go to the ice skating rink - 57 degrees in there! LOVE IT!
I live in Australia and our summers are a little hotter than yours (so my husband tells me, he is from the UK)and this will sound very silly but I am a big fan of Gavin and Stacey and I just watched season 3, where they spend the day at Barry Island in Wales (I'm told this is really a place, not just fiction. They spend the day at the beach and in the Fun Park/Fairground, (fairy floss, ferris wheels, dodgem cars etc...) maybe there is something closer to home that sounds like this, I know my 2 boys would LOVE it, I know is sounds silly a tv show for inspiration, but it's sure to be FUN!
Lovely boy card, I love the layout and the color combo you used! A day at the water park or local pool is always a blast when its hot and sticky out. On a cooler day a trip to the zoo would be a good idea!
Find a nice bed and breakfast somewhere you've always wanted to visit, be it close to home or in another area, and book it! It's a wonderful experience! Our favorite place to go is Maine. If you can, avoid the weekends.
Thanks for the chance to win this gorgeous set!
LOVE the boy card!! Thanks again for your wonderful ideas!
For summer fun, my kids and I build forts(in the living room) with sheets, blankets, pillows etc. The will play in them for hours, also, we make paper airplanes and fly them to see whose goes the farthest. If the weather is cool enough, we head outside, the kids like to take chalk and cover the driveway. Also the zoo is always fun! For night activities we set up a tent in the backyard and have a little camping adventure outside, roast marshmallows & hotdogs. Those are just a few of our activities I have 3 children so I have to always come up with something!! Hope this helps giveyou a few ieas!!
I would suggest getting yourselves a tent and pitching it in the back garden!! Get the BBQ out and have the camping experience from your own back garden - don't forget the marshmallows to toast on the BBQ and remember the torch!!
Saying that, I went fishing the other day in Ireland and I loved it!! Harry may love that too but you need a little bit of patience - so rewarding when you catch a fish that you can then eat for tea!
Another great thing to do is get yourself a GPS and go geocaching - yet another activity which Harry would love as it's like searching for hidden treasure!! Have a look at www.geocaching.com for more details - great fun!
I'm sure whatever you do, it will be a great summer!!
Great job on the boy card. I love the felt ruffle you added, not too frilly for a boy's card. Thanks for a chance at a great giveaway!
I love going to a movie, so I'd say you can always find a good movie and go out for an ice cream afterwards. Makes for a fun day.

Hey cutie! Yup, they're Petaloo. They'r called Celebrations. Check link:
http://petaloo.cameoez.com/Scripts/PublicSite/index.php?userid=&template=ShowItemPublic&item=10554900
Beautiful, aren't they? They're sorta eggshell, and all shimmery. I love them! :D
Crafts, crafts and more crafts! Oh, and the more educational the better and the messier the better, too! Outdoor picnics for lunch is always fun and trips to the local park. Have fun!
Also, see if there are any camps that he can sign up for. Little Man did a three day bible school last week and loved it and next week he's got four days of soccer. Since he's only three I think that's all he'll be doing this summer as we've got tons of fam stuff lined up too.
My "little boy" is now almost 21! When he was younger, he loved riding on trains and buses, so leaving the car at home and using public transport was a novelty in itself; take a picnic too and he would be in heaven!
My daughter is still school age, and we enjoy geocaching too. A few people have already mentioned this, but it really is good fun and once you've got yourself a GPS device, it's free too!
Love your step by step instructions! Gorgeous card! As far as summer fun activities...I would suggest looking at your city's website and seeing what local fairs, events and activites they have for the summer. My city hosts a ton of fun things thoughout the summer like concerts in the park, festivals, movie nights and so forth! Have a great summer!
well.....don't know what they have to do in your area but will share what my little boy and I do all summer.....local spray and water park....dollar movie theater.....ride bikes around the track....lay in the hammock and read books together :)
My little boy is almost 10 now, yikes!
Our kids have been going to the pool alot.

Love the card I have the same trouble with boy stuff but with only one son and two daughters I get to do more girl stuff. My children love to paint so when the weather is good we use lining wall paper spread out on the ground to make giant picture using hand and foot prints and paint splashes etc all the messy stuff you don't want to do indoors. The other good thing is you can hose the children down outside making for another great game. Keep up the good work.
How about going to the lake. we live very close to one and we spend 2 or 3 days of the week there. Also, maybe just something simple like going to the park and having a picnic. Theres also going to a amusement park. Buying season passes saves a lot of money. Plus you don't really have to spend that much money there because you can always pack a lunch and some snacks and you are good to go. My boys also like to just go outside with their friends, get wet out in the lawn, shoot some hoops, as a matter of fact I go out with them and shoot hoops myself. Great way to burn some calories for me. lol! :)
Another lovely card Wendy.
Visit Orford, you could go crabbing on the quay, play games on the recreation ground, take a trip up the castle, walk along the river wall, go bird watching on Havergate island or go across to Orfordness on the boat. There's always Rendlesham forest on the way too.
I live in Australia so can only tell you what I do in summer with my son - swimming, visiting the museum, movies, go to the beach. Boys are easier to amuse than girls, I think.
I dont know if theres one near you, but go to the Zoo! Kids always love the zoo. Or if you want to be crafty you could make "Boogey Monsters" I saw them on tv - glue two little felt balls/pom pom things together and add googly eyes and pipe cleaners for arms and legs, add hair or anything else you want! They look really neat, I hope Ive described them well enough lol Enjoy your time together!
We like to do day trips on the days the kids are out of camp--the science museum is a favorite. We also go to the zoo and the beach. Can do theme weeks where the crafts, day trip and other activities all tie into one theme.
