I love scrapbooking and i love putting my creations on here...i spend alot of time on each and every project, card and layout that i make and am very proud of each of them.

It has been bought to my attention over the last few weeks of some of my work is being copied...that i love..that makes me happy that an idea i had gives someone else inspiration...this i love...

I do this myself...i see something that i love and use that idea, either all of it or just part of it...but i do one thing...i give credit...i link people up..i say i saw this idea and from it i did this...or i lifted this page and this is the person i got it from.

I have had people email me and say...thankyou..i copied your idea...here is the link come and see...and i do..and i love it...the things you people have been creating have been gorgeous and i have loved seeing them...that makes me happy...really happy and i hope people will continue to do it.

But...the fact that there are people out there saying these projects are their own...copying pages, projects...and passing them off as their own...not even a 'i got the idea for this page from here'
that makes me sad...that makes me upset...very upset. I am a very slow scrapbooker...each project takes me hours to do, ages to put the idea from a spark in my head to actually showing it here...i know other people have had this problem and it upsets them as well.

Please if you copy my work, all you have to do is credit...that is one of the biggest rules in scrapbooking...give credit, otherwise people will not want to share their projects...

I am standing off my soap box now and will be back with a project 2m...xxxx

Nicely put - Last week I made a card from a blog that I hopped on and found a saw a card that inspired me, I made a card (not unlike it but quite like it) and posted it on my blog and then went to find the blog that inspired me and OMG I searched and searched, went thru my history, and could not find it. But I did say that the card inspriation was taken from another and did not take all credit for it. These crafting "Manners" are important and we should remind and be reminded of it.

This is my first time hopping on your blog and your a gal after my own heart... hehe I simply adore butterflies and all things bling as well as all the little details, vintage findings and the list goes on. I simply Love your work and I also draw my sketches on graph paper with little notes added... I hope it's ok if I add your blog to my list of blogs on my blog...

I think it sucks that people are trying to pass your ideas off as there own. It's hard enough to try to get your name out there in this industry but having to deal with not so honest people is never any fun...

Hugs to ya...

Oh Wendy I feel so sad, you are an inspiration to me, I love all your work and just reading your blog inspires me, but I would always give credit. I hope those who don't feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

This is always such a difficult topic cause it is always a slight possibility that another person actually came up with the same idea without knowing that someone else did something almost exactly the same.. you can never really now for sure.. I am not a cardmaker, at all, so when I have to make a card I always turn to your creations for inspiration, but since I don´t post them online anywhere I can´t really credit you =D

This is the hardest part of scrapping. I have seen exact copies of my work on the top 10 of 2peas with no give credit. Once a lady had a layout of the day at a big name site with a layout that was a total copy. I HATE this part of the game. People claim that if you put your work out there that inevitably it will be copied, but it just drives me nuts when people don't give credit...even if it was something like "I saw this on a blog but I don't remember where..." and that opens the door for you to say "oh it was MINE!!" Sorry you are dealing with this. :(

You are so right I have copied some of your great work but I have always linked you by doing so I wouldn't want to go with the credits I know you put a lot of effort in all your fantabulous work so you really earn the credits. I'm very sorry that this happened and hope you'll going on sharing all your work couldn't miss it.

Wendy - I so appreciate being able to pop on your blog and see such wonderful inspiration. I hope that whoever has been posting without giving credit will realize that all they have to do is give a shout out to whom they got their ideas from! Sorry to hear that people are so thoughtless. :(

Wendy,

I just recently found your blog, by way of Cosmo Cricket and I have been visting daily ever since. I love your style and creations and it also makes me sad that people try to take credit for work that isn't really theirs. I hope you will still continue to share your creations on your blog and not let a few ruin it for the many. :)

Hi Wendy. I am so sorry to read this. I am not surprised that people copy your work at all, its totally gorgeous and always inspiring and you are very kind with your tutorials and step by steps. I am so dissapointed for you though they do not have the common decency to credit you with it. I totally agree with the above comment and hope you still continue to share with your beautiful creations with us.
Warmest wishes Anita..xx

Please please please don't think all bloggers are so tacky. I love everything you do, and have recently copied a lot of it. I posted my copies on my blog, CLEARLY stating they are a TOTAL copy of you, and also linking to you. I hope you don't quit posting due to a few bad apples!

Well put, Wendy! I am often inspired by your work and look forward to checking your blog daily to see what new projects you have to share. As a fellow "slow scrapper," I can only imagine how this situation must frustrate you. Please don't let those few rotten apples take away your joy of crafting.

*hugs*

Wendy,

I'm a big fan of your work and read your blog everyday. I found this post to be very helpful. I am a new scrapbooker and have started a blog and I took this as good advice. I'm sorry someone would lift your ideas and not give you credit, because girl it is due!

Love this LO! Those homemade embellies are fabulous.

I am sorry to see that someone is stealing your ideas. I am all about using other's work as inspiration, but it is so important to provide credit where credit is due.

I guess you can look at it this way - you're work is so fabulous that someone would steal it :)

My embellies comment was for the LO in the post above.
