First off i want to say thankyou to each and everyone of you that posted on the give away post below...you all said such lovely things about this blog and my work and each and everyone of them meant everything to me.
Secondly...I wanted to show you something ( i wasnt going to but hey)...i made this for a friend who saw all the butterflies on some other posts and desperatly wanted me to make something for her...And i had seen something ( a lot simplier) on Ali Edwards blog well over a year ago...
So i came up with this...not very inspiring i know but none the less she loved it...
I bought a 8 by 8 shadow box frame...

Before i added the page that i did i painted it white...

while it was still tacky i used one of the Basic Grey files...

I then rubbed it all around the edges and on the front of the frame and scrubbed off some of the paint...to give it a distressed look...

The good thing about doing it this way and not buying it white and distressed is that you get to distress it as much or as little as you like.

I then inked the edges ( because...well...i ink the edges of everything lol...)
My friend chose butterflies as the main feature of this frame...which as i love them i wasnt going to argue!!!!
I used the little Jenni Bowlin butterfly shape as the template for this...

Quite weirdly this was quite hard to start...i was full of questions...do i leave them plain...do i add gems...will it be over the top if i embelish them as much as i would normally...so i ended up with this...

I added the scalloped edge on the top and the bottom as it looked a bit plain without it!

I picked out 4 that had the extra bits on them...ie the buttons and the pins...

This is a good way to use up small small small scraps...i personally dont throw away anything...even small bits of pattern paper get in the bag that i keep each line in...as you just never know when they will come in handy...

I used a few lines on this one...October Afternoon and My Minds Eye...
I think this would make a very gorgeous card as well...just make the butterflies smaller...hmmmm will have to try that!!!
Anyway thanks for popping by and dont forget if you have not added your comment to the post below then please do x

Beautiful!! (What's the brand of the butterfly punch? It's so cute!)
Wow, Wendy, this is absolutely stunning. Your friend must have been delighted with it! I love the mix of patterns and colours and how you picked out the four to embellish up. Gorgeous!
Warmest wishes Anita..xx
This is just gorgeous! Thank for giving us the step by step process! I would love to try this out.

Gorgeous gift for your friend! Your creations are so fabulous, and I adore your butterflies!
I think you played it just right. I love the gems to add a bit of glam without overwhelming the small butterflies with too many other details. That saying, choosing just a few of them to embellish really makes them stand out.
And the scallop edges are perfect.
:-)
just love this.....
classic and beautiful!

I love these shadow boxes I have them all around my house because you can use your scraps and create a little masterpiece full of memories too :)
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful idea. What a great gift this would make and we all have such pretty scraps you can really see how this would come together. Dying to try one myself.

Thanks for sharing your ideas! I'll keep it in mind too until I have a friend who would like one.
Too cool! I wanna do one of those for my daughters room, which I hope to decorate in butterflies!
I am rearranging my daughter's room and need new photos for her wall. I was so inspired by your frame & layout, that I showed my daughter who now wants me to make one for her room!
